Product Introduction

DMEM (Dulbecco's Modified Eagle Medium) is a widely used cell culture medium designed to support the growth of a variety of mammalian cells, including primary and immortalized cell lines. It is a modification of the original Eagle's Minimal Essential Medium (MEM) and contains higher concentrations of amino acids, vitamins, and other nutrients.

DMEM (Dulbecco’s Modified Eagle Medium), High Glucose, is an improved formulation based on MEM medium and is widely used for culturing various cell types. It is particularly suitable for fast-growing, low-adherence cells, including:

• Primary mammalian cells: Fibroblasts, neurons, glial cells, HUVECs, smooth muscle cells, etc.
• Cell lines: HeLa, 293, COS-7, PC-12, and others.

This product contains amino acids, vitamins, inorganic salts, and other essential components for cell culture but does not include proteins or growth factors. For optimal growth, supplementation with 5–10% serum or serum-free additives is required based on cell type.

Key Specifications:

• Sterilization: 0.1 μm membrane-filtered.
• pH: 7.0–7.4.
• Glucose: 25 mM (4.5 g/L, high-glucose formulation).
• Supplements:

1. 4.0 mM L-alanyl-L-glutamine (GlutaMAX™ equivalent): A stable dipeptide substitute for L-glutamine. It resists spontaneous degradation in aqueous solutions, gradually releasing glutamine via cellular peptidases for sustained uptake.
2. 1.0 mM sodium pyruvate: Supports energy metabolism.
3. Indicator: Contains phenol red (no HEPES buffer system).

Notes for Usage

• Serum Supplementation:
• For most applications, add 5–10% fetal bovine serum (FBS). Serum-free cultures require growth factor cocktails.

Antibiotics: Optional (e.g., 1% penicillin-streptomycin).

• CO₂ Equilibrium: Requires 5% CO₂ incubation due to sodium bicarbonate buffering (HEPES-free).

Applications

Ideal for high-metabolism cells (e.g., cancer lines, transfected HEK293).
